My chocolate lab had a litter of puppies on July 10th, when will she be ready to conceive again?
It is possible for her to concieve approximately 4 months after whelping pups (basic math- if she comes in season every 6 months and it takes 2 months to carry pups then she should come in season when the pups are 4 months old)…. NOT 6 months after whelping…
Now, all that being said… It is not advisable to breed a b*tch on back to back seasons. Since you didn’t know the answer to this, I suggest you research how to responsibly breed dogs … and that research would be best done somewhere besides Y!A.

If you continue to breed her out like this, she will eventually (and quite literally) dry up and waste away. Dogs aren’t breeding machines. Every litter she has saps energy and nutrients from her that are near impossible to replace, and breeding one after the other gives her NO chance to rebuild herself physically. She WILL die earlier if you continue breeding her one after the other.

She is physically capable of going into esterus within 6 months of whelping, and dogs are capable of having about 2 litters of pups each year.
That being said, unless you are a registered professional breeder (which I assume you are not, or you would already know what an appropriate breeding program should be, as well as have your breeder’s esterus cycle on record), do your dog a favor and have her spayed now. She’s already had one litter too many.

Most dogs come into season twice a year- however it is much better for her health and the litters she may have to breed no more than once a year.
Is your Lab a high quality dog? With Champions in her ancestry? Has she, herself won her Championship? Has she had all her testing done, X-rayed, health certificate from a Vet?
You sound like a BYBer. Not knowing what you are doing can cause lots of problems with the breed. Most pets are just pet quality & should not be bred.
If you have to ask this question you have no business breeding dogs. You should know what you are doing long before you even think about breeding. You shouldn’t have to ask this question.
You need to skip a heat cycle & breed on the second heat after she has had pups.
Please, do some more research before the second heat arrives. KNOW what you are doing & by all means do right by your dog. She is not a puppy machine, she is your pet.

dogs usually get there heat cycle every 6 months whether they have pups or not.
It is best if you should breed again to not let her breed for a year.
or get her spayed once the pups are 8-10 weeks old.

I agree with Horcae also, we are not all born with knowlage of how to breed animals, and it is not that people do not love there animals though there are people out in the world that do not treat there animlas properly. I for one did have 2 pure breed yorkies that i could have breed but i had never had a litter from them because the female was to small and i was told she could possibly die from it, but i would not have known any information about breeding and would have tried to find out what i could from the internet. People do not need to be critizied for asking questions to me it shows that they want to gain the information and that they care for there dog.
The reason these forums are here is KNOWLEDGE….If no one asks,,, no one knows… I believe they were being a responsible breeder just asking the question… They could have just BRED… Over, Ended, Finished, Done…Now that’s a problem… Please people be a little less critical of questions on here.
