Hey there, it’s been 7 months for us and still no joy. My doctor told me to start charting my temperature, so I have this month, looks like I ovulate late in my cycle which means my luteal phase is way too short being that I have a 27 day cycle. Have you charted before? I think it’s worth it.

Keep the faith and good luck xxx

32 years and no kid yet (thankfully)

Get off the fertility drugs and stay away from any sort of "potion" thats supposed to make you pregnant.

It can take a lot of time to get pregnant. My sister and her husband tried for 6 years and then one day – BAM! She was pregnant

If it hasn’t happened in a year of trying, you should see a doctor. Honestly, if there is something wrong, many many times it can be remedied with prescriptions or procedures and I would definately consult your doctor before taking any suppliments that are not FDA approved. They are not AT ALL tested for safety and could cause harm to you or your (future) baby. Read the label and be certain it is FDA approved. Not to mention, depending on your hormone levels you may need more of one thing and LESS of another and only a blood test and your doctor can know for certain. Good luck!

We’re going on 8 months…..never EVER thought it would take this long….all of my friends…bam, right off the bat, pregnant.

Hubby is going for a sperm check next week…..my OB said my charting, etc..and ovulation looks ‘awesome’ for pregnancy, so that’s why we’re checking DH sperm to see if his ‘swimmers’ are okay.

It’s hard…..just hang in there and if you’ve been trying for more than 6 months and you’re over 35, talk to your dr. Otherwise, most dr’s won’t start testing until you have tried for a year (and you’re under 35 years of age).

    Good luck….baby dust to you!

    Hi there

Took us 2 years to conceive, but unfortunately lost our baby.
If you’ve been trying for over a year, I would suggest going to to your Doc to get checked out.
For us, I have one blocked falliopan tube and my hubby had a low sperm count. We were put forward for IVF treatment, so I chilled out on TTC then the next month we conceived naturally!!
My advice is not to get too focused on the whole TTC – baby dance as much as you can and get use to what your body tells you, i.e. the types of discharge through your cycle (sorry if tmi!).
Wish you all the luck – baby dust!! xxx

I never thought it would take so long. In fact, I used to have this intense feeling that I’d get pregnant one of the first times I had sex. People actually placed bets on how long it’d take me to get pregnant, the longest being only 4 months from the time I got married. I thought everyone was right. I’m now going on 9 months of TTC #1, while it seems like everyone around me gets pregnant without even trying, or on their first try!

I definitely understand the frustration, and fear that I may end up being one of those who end up with unexplained infertility since we seem to have everything in order to be able to conceive.

I would recommend doing as much charting as possible. I wish I had started earlier, thinking that maybe I was missing my opportunity to conceive in the first months. Good luck and don’t give up. You’ve got a lot of company.

I have been TTC for over 2 years now! Was told I had PCOS in Oct 2007. Was on clomid for 5 months with nothing! When in for HSG in Feb and both tubes are blocked! I have been taking herbs for several months now and am ovulating and this is helping with the PCOS at least. I have to wait another year before starting IVF. So for now I am doing some Chinese’s medicine to see if this will help! After read this book The Infertility Cure I have new hope that I can do this with out IVF!

And be careful with the Robitussin you might just get Mucinex!
Tussin (Brand name Robitussin) – Though Tussin is not an herb, many women who are trying to conceive use it. It helps to thin out thick or hostile cervical mucus. It is important for cervical mucus to be at a perfect state to ensure that the sperm will make it past the cervix and into the uterus. Tussin is an expectorant used to loosen and thin mucus in the lungs. While it loosens and thins mucus in the lungs it also thins it in other areas of the body where there are mucus membranes and mucus is produced, such as on the cervix. There have been no “official” studies noted, but many women swear by it, especially women with a predisposal to the production of thick mucus such as in women with Cystic Fibrosis. Be sure when you purchase the Tussin that you purchase the plain kind with only “Guaifenesin” as the active ingredient. There should be no other active ingredients contained in it. Many times, women on clomid take Tussin to help their cervical mucus. I use it for the five days leading up to ovulation until ovulation has occurred. This means that if you ovulate on day 15, it is recommended that you start taking it on day 9 and continue on to day 15. Plenty of water should be consumed while using the Tussin. This will help to thin the cervical mucus even more. The usual dose is 2 tsp (200mg) 3 times a day. It usually comes in a syrup form. Recently they made available the purchase of the 600 mg time released pills without a prescription. One of the brand names of these pills is Mucinex and can be purchased at Wal-Mart and most drug stores.

How long have you been ttc? We have been ttc our first baby for 23 months now. I tried the robitussin, temping, charting, pre-seed and such in the past too. My gyn. had me try clomid in 2007 but it didn’t help and actually made my cycles go crazy. So we stopped "trying" for a few months and decided in February to see a specialist. I am so glad we took that step. I am in the middle of my 2nd treatment cycle using injectibles. I really feel like we will conceive quickly now. They are so understanding and caring at this office. I feel like even though I didn’t conceive the first treatment cycle that I get answers and feel a lot less stressed about the whole thing.

I really hope you conceive soon!!!

I have been struggling with infertilty for 21 months June 19th 2008 and 22 menstrual cycles at 21 years old. I got married at 19 years old. I do not have the money to do infertilty testing and treatments and my health insurance does not do infertilty testing or treatments. I have to wait 4.5+ years to start testing for infertility. I am going to give up getting pregnant for 8 months and see if that helps. Hopefully I’ll be in school(Studying Early Childhood Education) and that should take my mind off of getting pregnant. I’ll be 25+ when I’m able to start infertility testing and treatments. Hopefully I get pregnant before then.
