At what point did you start to dilate during your first pregnancy?

"After one month of trying I became pregnant and had a beautiful healthy boy!"

"After over 7 years of trying to conceive and thousands of dollars spent on infertility treatments, I had actually succeeded to get pregnant the natural way without any drugs or medical intervention "

Hi ladies! I asked this in the pregnancy section, but not getting a lot of answers.
How many weeks were you when you started to dilate? I know some people start earlier and sometimes maintain that until late in pregnancy, but just curious about everyone as I know everyone is different. Thanks.

I was only a "fingertip" dilated until I went to the hospital and was induced. I went for my regular check-up 2 days before my due date and told my OB I was SO tired of being pregnant and that it was a good weekend for me to have my son because my husband was off work for several days straight so I went in that night (at about 1/2 cm dilated) and they gave me a pill – I can’t remember what it was called – that got me contracting. I had regular contractions until about 3 AM but didn’t dilate. They started my pitocin then and I really contracted hard but still didn’t dilate. About 8 AM I was in so much pain but only about 2 1/2 cm so my OB came in and told them to get my epidural going and right afterward he came back in and broke my water. I went from 2 1/2 to 3 cm at about 9 AM to 10 cm at 12 PM, started pushing at 12:05PM and my son was born at 12:48PM!
However, the nurse at my OB’s office walked around at 3 cm for 2 weeks so, like you said, everyone is totally different! And just because you might dilate early this pregnancy, your next may be like mine.
Either way, GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!!!!!!
myself i didnt dilate until i went into labour and i dilated upto 10 cms and still had a CS.
I didn’t start to dilate until I was induced. Never did on my own & still ended up with a c-section. Never got past 6cm… I was induced 4 days after my due date.
didn’t start dilating until the day before I had her. 40 weeks on the dot.
I was 3 cms at 37 weeks and didn’t have my son until 41 weeks!
Not to freak you out-But with my son, I was at 41 weeks and had not dilated. He hadn’t even dropped into the birth canal! I had to be induced because he was overdue and a little too comfortable in the womb lol. Not typical though, but I believe it’s more common to dilate closer to your due date with first babies. Good luck!
I was 1cm starting at 35 weeks. I stayed at a 2 until my water broke at 37w6d. Once my labor started I went from a 2-10 in a hour and had him at exactly 38 weeks….the 4th of July!
I didn’t dilate until I had been in labour for 1 day. I hadn’t fully dilated until i’d been in labour for 3 days!!
I think I had dilated 1 cm the day before I went into labour, 2 days before baby was born. Baby arrived nine days late.
i had a c-section at fourty weeks bec of high blood pressure but even at 40 weeks i hadnt dilated any
35 weeks- 50% effaced 1 cm dialated
They checked me at my 35 week appointment and I was dilated 1.5 cm and was already 80% effaced! But – I didn’t give birth until 39 weeks. Apparently you can dilate for a while and still not go into labor….
I was 1 cm dilated at 37 weeks than at 38 & 39 weeks I was 3 cm. I was induced at 40 weeks and 1 day (and I was still 3 cm until they started the medicine..)
I was checked for false labor at 37 weeks with my son and they said I was dilated to 2, so that’s the earliest of my "dilation time line" that I was aware of.
