My husband is diagnosed in 2005which was in chronic stage.Since then he is taking this medicine regularly.His consultant advised not to conceive because of the side effects of the medicine.
I haven’t heard of side effects of the medicine. My physician never told me not to become pregnant when I was first put on azathioprine. I’m still on it (150 mg) for crohn’s too. I doubt that there is that much of a risk but it does reduce sperm viability. He should really question his physician. It’s also called imuran – I have attached a link for you.
