I heard that there is less chance for a rabbit to get pregnant in the winter, is this true?

I happen to have 5 does due in the next two weeks. Yippee. Glad I put that nice light in my rabbitry. On the other hand, we also just had 5 litters born in our city’s shelter from pet rabbits whose owners let them get pregnant and dumped them. How sad. So, obviously, their are some rabbits not having any problem conceiving in winter.
You are right, there is less chance that (domestic) rabbits will get pregnant in winter because there is less day light. We call it winter breeding depression. Not because the rabbits are depressed but because their biological clocks are not set for optimum breeding. This can be fixed by having a light in your rabbit barn that you leave a while longer after it gets dark.
Rabbits more readily breed in spring and fall but can get pregnant any time of the year, especially if they live in a climate controlled environment like in your house or in a rabbitry. Btw, rabbits don’t take the heat well at all and bucks can go sterile in the heat of summer. I ususally try to breed spring, fall, and winter and skip summer. It’s too hot for anyone to be pregnant and be able to stay comfortable, imo. Out of those breedings, not all take so you try again within a certain window of time.
Anyway, probably too much info. If you are interested in a good article about the subject (plus many more) go to the link below and click on "helpful articles archives" and look for the winter breeding blues article.
Rabbits are extremely fertile and can get pregnant ANY time of the year. Its less likely the babies will survive in winter though, especially in the wild.
yes and no-rabbits can get pregnant anytime of the year but its been known that some rabbits dont breed in winter cos its cold and dark-male rabbits are said to breed when its warm and light BUT THWY CAN BREED ANY TIME OF THE YEAR
are you 12? That’s like saying humans can only get pregnant at night.
Rabbits are extremely fertile and can pregnant any time.
How long do you leave the lights on at night? We have sunrise around 6:30 and by 6:30 it is sunset so I would think I should leave the lights on from 6pm – 11pm. Anybody ever try feeding parsley or cilantro to increase the breeding chances? If so how much because I hate to throw their system off.
