Like every other form of birth control, nothing is 100%. However, the chances of you getting pregnant while on the pill during your period are highly unlikely, seeing as to how you’re not ovulating at that time.

BC doesn’t actually stop conception from happening, it just makes your uterus a hostile place for implantation to occur. During your period, you’re shedding that wall that an embryo would grab onto.

    yes i think u can

  3. Angellove says:

you can get pregnant at any time it all depends on when you ovulate.

  4. skittles says:

techincally yes but it depends on how long you have been on the pill.. if you’ve been on it for a few months most likely the pill is working correctly and there isn’t an egg in there to fertilize. remember the pill is only 99.9 % effective so there is always a chance

  5. inneedofhelp says:

no you cant, the pill stops you from ovulating, the placebo pills are to encourage the womb lining to come away and give you your period

  6. Mr. Tights says:

you can’t get pregnant during your period because you can’t release an egg during your period the reason why you take the placebo is to help you keep your pill routine

  7. sheargenius says:

it is POSSIBLE to get pregnant anytime of your cycle though you only ovulate once you can ovulate at anytime
you can get pregnant at any time your chances increase during ovulation though so if you know when you ovulate you should be ok but birth control take away ovulation so you should be fine

  8. Autumn W says:

As long as you are effectively taking your pill the 3 weeks prior to your placebo pills you will be fine. I am always very hesitant if I take a pill late or forget one day. Follow your instincts. If you haven’t been perfect about taking your pills and really don’t want to get pregnant I wouldn’t risk it.

ITS NOT A PLACEBO,YOU ARE STILL PROTECTED.

  10. ruby_intherough says:

It is possible of course any day. There are just some days when it is likelier.

    you can always get pregnant!!

    That’s tacky!…ugh!

  13. Artistic says:

I’m not sure what you mean "the whole week of your period, your taking a placebo" BUT, if you take the pill properly and take the 7 day break from it during your period, it is extremely unlikely that you will get pregnant. Because on the pill, your "periods" are not real periods because while you’re on the pill you don’t ovulate. And if you don’t ovulate you can’t get pregnant. Its almost 100% effective against pregnancy if you take it correctly.
But if you’re taking antibiotics or have had diarrhea then there’s a chance it might not work, so use extra protection then for at least a week after.

  14. Kate B says:

It is possible, however it is highly unlikely. It is hard to get pregnant during your period even when you are not on the pill. As a side note, you shouldn’t have sex while on your period anyway, it may cause painful bladder infections.

  15. Tiffany E says:

As long as you have taken the pill consistently up until your period, you should be fine. That is what it is for, preventing an egg from being released from your ovaries and/or helping regulate your period.
Now if you weren’t on the pill, I would say, YES, there is a possibility you can get pregnant during your period.

  16. kat says:

No you can’t. The pill is hormones that simulate pregnancy so you don’t ovulate. When you stop the hormones for the week you will have your period. You won’t ovulate because your hormone levels aren’t right for ovulation. If you never started taking the pills again, you would ovulate again in a couple of weeks. But as long as you start your next cycle of pills you should be safe. There is no need to use a backup method the week of your period. However, the pill is only 99% effective, so if you don’t want to take that slight chance of becoming pregnant you should use a backup method all month.
