I was sopposed to have started my period today but I missed it. I checked my electric period calendar and it said I had sex around the time I was fertil. Today I felt sick and about to throw up in the morning for the rest of the day I felt fine. I also read that if you think of a possible pregnancy that also slows down your period because of stress.
I want to take a pregnancy test so I don’t worry myself and I get an answer but I don’t want a expensive test if it will just be negative.
I was just wondering how likely it is to get Preeclampsia in a subsequent pregnancy. I went in for a routine ob visit at 31 weeks & was shocked when they told me i had protein in my urine and high blood pressure. I was put on bed rest that day & had to go get lab work done. I was induced at 37 weeks & am now pregnant with my second child but am only 18 weeks & would like to know others experiences.

being a teenager i want to have sex like others. but there is always the risk of pregnancy.. and apart from using condoms (which dont always work) what other ways can one avoid pregnancy? i dont want to consult my doctor since he would have to ask for a parents signature or agreement to give me any prescription for birth control pills. any advice?

Are there any tips that I can follow as it relates to changing my excercise regimen (I do at least 3 times a week: 20 minutes on the stair climber, 20 minutes on the tredmill, and at least 30 miuntes weight training and abdominal work) and diet.

Alright my periods have always been off, Sometimes I’ll go 3-4 months without a period at all, sometimes less. So I can’t judge potential pregnancy off that, so is there a set number of days after sex you can test for pregnancy? Most pregnancy tests read "Up to 5 days before your missed period" and well that doesn’t apply to me since my periods are always late regardless.

I had a miscarriage 4 months ago and am now 6 weeks pregnant. I have a son and that pregnancy went perfectly so I know reasonably that I can and probably will have a healthy pregnancy. I am 31 weeks into my second pregnancy, and I must admit I am concerned about what it may do to my body. I came out of my first pregnancy almost completely identical to my prepregnancy body. My really weird craving though is Bounce outdoor fresh dryer sheets and Gain original scent laundry detergent. I washed my sheets 3 times just to smell it! After my first and the only pregnancy so far I developed saggy breasts, a few stretch marks on my butt and stomach, weak bladder and a little bit fat left on my stomach(looks like old skin with wrinkles). So, I have planned to have another baby, but would like to ask from your experience, ladies, how much do you change after second pregnancy. Do you look and feel even 10 times worse than after the first pregnancy? And what changed so much?
I’ve lost all the weight from pregnancy–just left with some floppy belly skin. Will this work itself out or is there something i should be doing? Or am i screwed? It’s been 10 months.

I was wondering if anyone knows how long first morning urine will be good stored in a cover cup to use on pregnancy tests.
I need to store it because first morning urine has the highest concentration of HCG. If you pee later in the day, it won’t be as concentrated. I just need to store it long enough to be able to run to the store. I know that you can store and have it be good for something like 24 hours but I wasn’t sure. I guess you guys don’t know. My last period was on July 2 and I had contact on July 16.. my usual menstrual gaps are either 28 or 31 days.. To me, my greatest dislike about pregnancy is that there are mood swings in which hormones greatly fluctuate and moods change from happiness to total depression to emotional anguish without a good reason.

So I had sex last Friday, and this Friday, unprotected. And I want to take a home pregnancy test but I’ve heard that you need to wait until some point after your first missed period.
The thing is, my period is still irregular sometimes… so when should I take it? I mean, there’s an estimated time when I usually get it, but sometimes it’s not the same.
So when should I take it?
I am getting induced tuesday, and i want to make a pregnancy belly plaster mold before that happens. How do i do a homemade one… like what supplies would i buy at the store to make it?? and which store?

Ibuprofen works best for any aches and pains I have when not pregnant. Since hCG is produced due to a fertilized egg which is implanted in the uterus, is there any hCG produced in the case of an ectopic pregnancy? If so is it readable on a pregnancy test? I (actually my wife) had urine analysis done a couple months ago and she shows high levels of Mercury and Lead (7.4 ug/gm and 4.88 ug/gm creatinine, respectively). My doctor wants to put me on a certain medication that has an unknown effect on a fetus. Since there is a good chance that I could be pregnant this month, she did a blood pregnancy test first to rule out a pregnancy- the results will be available tomorrow morning.

I just found out that I am pregnant again. Of course my boobs are a little sore. Though in the past few days my boobs have been leaking a few drops of a clear liquid. Do you think its a good idea to make teens have the baby think it over and the pregnancy profile vest? I’ve done both of them and I think I benifited from both. Do you think it should be required in school, or just optional? The baby think it over cries every 3 or 4 hours. You have to rock it when its fussy, feed it, change its diaper etc. You also have to support its neck and not shake it. The pregnancy profile vest has a "head" that moves when you walk. It makes you gain 30 pounds (i think). It makes you have to frequently use the restroom. It also had two feet up by your stomach. It is very hot to wear. I am tentatively 4-1/2 weeks pregnant right now. With previous pregnancy that ended in miscarriage, frequent urination seemed to be a more obvious symptoms for me, but only during weeks 6-8 or so and mostly early in the morning, having to get out of bed to go. My question is i been taking first responds pregnancy test and a dollar store pregnancy test yesterday and they are coming back negative. But i was suppose to start May 8th and haven’t started yet. I just found out that I am pregant already went to first doctor visit he said that he thinks I am about 4 weeks along. He could only see the sac that the baby is supose to be in. Is that normal or is it a tubular pregnancy. I already have a 16 month old. Also is there any signs of a tubular pregnacy.

I’m 5’2" and I weigh 121 lbs. When I look it the mirror it looks like my tummy is already starting to get bigger and I’m only 5 weeks! I’ve been having the weird dreams everyone says you get when you’re pregnant. I’m almost 7 weeks. But the dreams have nothing to do with the baby or the pregnancy. Every book I have gives detail on the kind of dreams to expect and they all have to do with the baby or the pregnancy. But mine haven’t. I have never been able to remember much of my dreams until I got pregnant, but the ones I could remember were no where near as vivid or as crazy. Is that a normal pregnancy thing?

I have PCOS and with my last pregnancy HPT were all negative and my blood work was positive, however I was 2 months along before I had the lab work done. I am only 2 weeks late (unlike me) and both tests are negative….
I’m pretty sure I am pregnant, I’m almost two weeks late and had two positive pregnancy tests about a week ago. My boyfriend got a new sub system for his car and it’s SUPER loud and the vibrations are crazy, could this cause me to miscarry or cause other complications? Because I know it is easy to miscarry this early in pregnancy.

I took 3 pregnancy tests and two of three came out positive. However, my boyfriend always pulls out, so I don’t think this is 100% sure. Im on a versy strict diet and my body fat % is down to about 4 %. I don’t think Im pregnant. What other factors could contribute to conflicting results?. My hubby and I are trying for our first and have been doing the ‘baby dance’. follow-up: wouldnt be so silly to assume that kids would be responsible for taking birth control on their own. This would be a highly regulated activity–likely using the shots, to eliminate (as much as possible) the chance of a lapse. Again, this is just an idea. Lots of legal issues to consider.
As my wife didn’t know about her pregnancy and during haj days she used pills to stop menses on expecting dates. But when she stopped eating pills she havn’t got periods. We did self pregnancy test at home and found it positive. Now she is worried whether pills effected baby or not.

I had sex on August 23rd, and then started my period two days later. Then I had sex on August 31st. We used a condom both times. I’m 6 days late. I have never been late before, normally have a 29 day cycle. I tested after being 1 day late – negative. Then tested after being 5 days late in the morning, however I don’t think I did the test correctly as I should have dipped the tester stick in the urine. Result was negative.
My breasts are bigger, not tender really. My stomach is bloated and I have slight cramping. I feel more tired than usual lately too. I think I may be pregnant. When should I test again and how long can it take before the pregnancy hormone shows in urine?

I had an ectopic pregnancy in October, I was given three doses of methotrexate to bring my hCG levels down, the last one in November. I had some irregular bleeding from November to the end of December and then it stopped. I have not had any bleeding since. In the middle of January my hCG levels were down to 20 from 28000. I just took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. What are the chances of it being a false positive?
I’ve seen pregnancy tests in dollar stores, and even though they say they’re accurate, I have to wonder. If you look at pregnancy tests at stores like Target or Wal-Mart, they’re more expensive. So are pregnancy tests from dollar stores reliable, or are the bigger stores just ripping us off? Help! A friend of mine was recently involved in sexual activity and is worried she may be pregnant. We think our larger female dog might be pregnant by our tiny male dog. We were told the small dag was fixed before we got him, but found out too late that he hadn’t been. About 3 months ago my gf and i had sex, we were very careful and the condom didnt break but my gf has been worried ever since because she heard about a woman who had periods all the way through her pregnancy therefore not realising she was pregnant. She took a test and it came back negative but after a while a faint positive line appeared. This was after the time that the test was valid but she took another 1 just to be sure. When she took this 1 it came back negative again but we noticed two tiny dots had appeared where there shouldn’t be any at all. They were in the corner just above the negative line and we are unsure whether they appeared before or after the 10 mins was up. Could she be pregnant? She doesn’t want to take another test because all of the worrying is only making her periods late any way. She has had 2 normal periods and the last 1 was later than usual. A friend recommended I use Silicea Balsam to prevent stretch marks during my pregnancy, but I want to make sure it is safe to use. Me and my girlfriend were having sex and my spermicidal condom slipped off and got stuck in her blocking sperm from getting any deeper. I ejaculated into her and we didnt know until after. 2) Also, someone commented that I was wanting to exercise so I wouldn’t lose my figure— no actually, this being my 3rd I know what happens and I’m not going for rock hard abs (ha, that’s a joke, really). I just want to stay HEALTHY and give myself the best shot at a good pregnancy and labor and delivery.

I am 3 weeks late for my period, having some nausea, fatigue, bloating, aversion to smells, and maybe some cravings (I’ve been wanting eggs for days). I think I may be pregnant but I have taken two HPTs and both have said negative. I’m planning on seeing a dr next week for a blood test but I’m just wondering if it is possible to get this far into a pregnancy and still get a false negative.
My last pregnancy was an ectopic and it was treated with methotrexate by one injection and was told not to try to concieve till after 6 monthes. But have heard others trying right away, like within a month. We are anxious to try again but, scared that if we start trying again of running the risk of another loss, or even birth defects. Any advice?

I’m going threw my second pregnancy. With my first pregnancy I gained so much weight. Way over the reconmended weight that women should gain during pregnancy. Eventhough, the weight came off pretty fast after the birth. I have heard that it is harder to lose the weight the second time around. I want to try and maintain a healthy pregnancy weight. I know some women rather take Flinstones then the other med they have to take because it makes them sick to their tummy. and they had no problem just taking that throughout the whole pregnancy. I have been pregnant previously 3 times prior (was able to get pregnant within 1-2 months) Lost all 3, one due to incompetent cervix, and the last 2 due to a blood clotting disorder. The Dr’s know how treat these conditions to help in achieving a successful pregnancy next time around. Problem is I’ve been trying to get pregnant for the last 5 months. I’ve been charting my cycles (which are normal) and I know when I’m ovulating. So I don’t understand why it could be taking so long this time around. I am 35, so it worries me that I’m getting older. I did a home test and it showed positive but I’m still very apprehensive. I talked to my ob/gyn and she asked me to wait for another week – 10 days and get ultra sound done. I’m 36 days past my LMP (March 8th, 6 days long) and no period yet. My normal cycles range from 30-35 so this is unusual for me. Just wanted to know the about the woman out there that had the longest pregnancy. Longest labor would be cool to know as well.
We all know the stories of women who have gotten lucky and found a positive result a week before their periods are even due (putting them at about week 3 of pregnancy). But, I can’t seem to find any information about when MOST pregnancies are detected by. Is it something like 95% of pregnancies can be detected on a HPT by the 6th week, or something around then? Thanks!
With my first pregnancy, which we weren’t trying, I had extremely sore breasts and a missed period.
We have been ttc and I am not due for my period until next week, however I’ve been awfully bloated and my body just aches since we finished trying. I feel like I am, instictually and physically. But those are my only two symptoms. I’m still breastfeeding our 18 month old daughter as well but I’ve had a normal period since she was 3 months old.

I took a pregnancy test yesterday because my ovulation calendar software said it was time to test, and got a positive result. But, I have had really no symptoms, aside from a bit of fatigue and being overly emotional and hungry more often, all of which can be explained away. When can I exepct some of the other symptoms: breast tenderness, morning sickness, etc?

I have had endometriosis for the last few years and was on birth control to help to keep it from speading. The doctor told me when I wanted to get pregnant just to stop the birth control right before so I went off of birth control about a month and a half ago hoping to get pregnant while I can. I know women do not usually deploy during pregnancy and they get approximately six weeks of convalescent leave after giving birth, but do they deploy after six weeks or do they stay on shore and work on shore for some time? It is almost impossible for me to believe that the Navy would leave a 2-month old child without its mother for up to 6 months.

I had an ultrasound at 6w and there was a yolk sac, but my u/s at 7w4d showed an empty sac. I am now 8w4d and I am still having the same pregnancy symptoms and my hcg levels are still rising but are low and not raising very quickly. after the 7w4d u/s they were only about 7000. Well I been off birth control pills since December 28th. Now we are wanting to start trying for another boy but as long as its healthy don’t matter.So my last period was April 10th-16th. So today is 2 weeks left until am suppose to start my period. When would i start getting the signs? I know every pregnancy is different. But just wanting to know when is the earliest I could be getting signs & what could they be? Could I have been signs now?
I know they count the weeks of pregnancy by the date of the last period. So if the last period was on Dec. 1st for example, Jan 1st would be sometime around week 4.
But what about those with longer cycles? With cycles that are 50 days long for example. So if two women have their period on Dec. 1st, one with a regular cycle and the other with a longer cycle, I believe that they didn’t conceive on the same day.

10 Comments »I’m talking about the occasional case of a young woman who somehow ignores a pregnancy until a baby suddenly arrives. This often ends in tragedy when the girl panics and abandons the child. What influences could lead to this behavior?
1) On a small scale – what sort of family dynamics might she have, what sort of personality, etc. What might pre-dispose a young woman to ignoring a pregnancy?
2) On a larger scale, is our society somehow leading to this problem? Is there such shame involved with teen pregnancy? Is it a lack of resources for mothers? Is it an emphasis on career over motherhood? Or, could it be an emphasis on avoiding abortion? Any and all ideas are welcome.
A pregnancy is often not seen as a blessing, even for women with adequate resources. Even a surprise pregnancy in a 25 year old with a job is greeted with "oh no!" by friends and family. That’s what I mean by "an emphasis on career over motherhood".
Two weeks ago I experienced my first cramps and still am feeling them mostly on the left side. I feel tired. And my period is now 7 days late. But I’ve taken 4 pregnancy tests in the last 3 days and all are negative, I’m not stressed my school is currently in fall break. My last menstrual was on sept 9.

My first pregnancy wasn’t too bad. My biggest complaint is that I was tired all day, every day. I gained a total of 35 lbs. I didn’t have any complications.. I had the epidural & I had a vaginal delivery.
I am now 6 months pregnant.. I look like I did when I was 8 months pregnant w/ my son.. I am gaining weight much quicker. I am waddling like a duck already. I have cramps, aches & back pains. I have 3 months to go.. hopefully the delivery goes smoothly.

My daughter has just been diagnosed with a complex cyst and she’s, unfortunately, pregnant. A friend of mine has not had her period for over three months. She tests every two weeks and the pregnancy results always come back negative. However, she is concerned that she might have a tubal pregnancy, which-from what I hear-are not shown on a pregnancy test-false readings. She hasn’t any signs or anything. However, she does not have insurance and does not want to go to the doctor or hospital unless if she has too-if she has a tubal pregnancy she knows this must be taken care of immediately since this is life-threatening. I neek to know the signs so she and I can be aware of them. Is there a gradual showing of symptoms or do they come at once? Also, how long after conception do these symptoms appear?

8 Comments »I’m 9 wks preagnant and have had about 4 episodes of vaginal bleeding only lasting 1 dy.I’ve heard that after seeing a heart beat and cervix closed possibilities of misscarrying are lower how true is this.What could be causing the bleeding or how common is this problem.I’m on vaginal suppositories and they say this should help strenghten pregnancy is there any else I can do I’m also on bed rest per Dr’s orders.But I’m also scared eventhough I never have cramping or pain but at times I also pass alot of blood clots what could be the chances of this pregnancy of comming to full term.Please help me with some support at least.I’ve heard of women bleeding through there whole pregnancy and gooshing out blood I don’t bleed that bad not to where I have to change my pad it’s only when I urinate that alot of blood and clots come done at times.Help tx.

She asked the lady who gave her the results and the lady said that the test should not be done until atleast 10 days after conception to be most accurate. I want to know if this sounds like pregnancy, it is a week after ovulation i have heavy white discharge and a little cramping. I’ve also been a little moody. I don’t know if white discharge is a big sign of pregnancy or not.
I took an at home pregnancy test last week and tested positive, but then had my period a few days later. I would have conceived between September 20th and 24th, and my period came 6 days ago. I started reading up on this and found a lot of questions about chemical pregnancies. How do they happen? I’m about 25 weeks pregnant with my first child & have been on Lovenox injections of 120mg/day since I was 13 weeks due to a stroke. I’ve been giving myself the injections in my stomach & love handles since I began. Is it safe to continue in the stomach area throughout your whole pregnancy? I’m just worried about the needle coming too close to the baby as my pregnancy progresses. My grandmother and a cousin both developed severe rheumatic autoimmune diseases after pregnancy, when being previously fine before pregnancy. I have not been able to find any additional evidence of pregnancy causing an autoimmune disease to develop, but am wondering if anyone knows of a link between the two, either clinical or anecdotal.
