I am trying to become pregnant, but nothing has happened yet. I had surgery in September for my appendix.

Could this be affecting my fertility?

I gave birth in July. (it was easy to conceive the first one)

Now we are trying for the 2nd one. It’s been four months since we started planning it. Nothing happens.

  1. IVF MD says:

It’s not possible to draw any conclusion after only 4 months of trying.

If the appendix did not rupture, there is less chance of tubal damage than if the appendix DID rupture. If you don’t know if it did or not, ask your surgeon. You can also guess by the hospital stay. If you were sent home right after the appendectomy, it’s most likely that it did NOT rupture.

Good luck! Go see a reproductive endocrinologist, especially if you have not conceived within six months. They may suggest a test to see if your tubes became blocked after the bout of appendicitis.

    Good luck!!
