So I am watching Maury and I thought this might be a good question. Do you get upset when you hear about teens trying to get pregnant on purpose? If you could say anything to them what would it be? Do you think they realize how hard it is to be a mom and to take care of a baby?

Well that depends on the situation and why they want a baby. Plenty of teenagers have babies and are better parents then older women and have a better support system then some families. I think some teens do do it for the wrong reasons and there the ones i feel sorry for because they are normally looking for something that was missing in there childhood. I know people who had children in there teens and they are great parents and have their own homes and good jobs. You can’t look at them as all the same.

It makes me sad because chances are they are looking for unconditional love and they think that this is the only way to get it. It’s sad because you don’t have to have a baby to have someone to love you…

    why do you care?
    its their decision.

They have no clue. I had no clue at that age. It’s still a toy thing in their minds, and they’re brains aren’t fully developed to comprehend just what being a mother entails. It’s sad really. For the teen, and the wanted unborn baby. They’re pretty much both doomed to a life struggle.

yes, it upsets me a lot, but it also means how immature teen are (though they seem to believe the opposite). I always answer those questions and tell them to sit down and talk with a teen mommy, that will give you a whole other perspective about it.

Babies are not like they are shown in the movies, perfect, never cry, never get sick, etc, I try to put all the examples I can get of why it would be a bad idea.

We were teens one, remember how teens idealize everything? it’s like they live in a parallel reality, everything is perfect, etc, you don’t see any obstacles, you don’t wanna listen, you just believe you are so grown up and able to handle everything when the real life is far away from all that day dreaming LOL

It makes me upset.. For them and for the baby.

I would say, I don’t think you’ve done enough research to realize what you’re getting into emotionally or financially. You can do something with your life, you don’t need to go through a pregnancy to feel like your life has some meaning. Do the best for your baby NOW, and don’t have it. I know a teenager with a planned pregnancy that wishes she never got pregnant. It’s not all sunshine and roses you know.

This is not directed towards all teenagers.

And yeah I was watching Maury yesterday.. How ridiculous. There’s always a poor baby in the middle of everything.

Being the grandmother of a beautiful 3 year old little girl, I say ARE YOU STUPID???

My daughter got pregnant when she was 14. She was not ready at all to be a mother. Teens get the idea that a baby will make them grown, or fill a void. In my case I have custody of my grandchild and as much as my daughter lovers her, she knows even now at 19 she wasnt ready and will probably not be for years.

I am sure that there are some teens that would make great mothers but why not live your life? You will never get those years back, you need to party (responsibly) travel, go to college and have the best time you can. If you dont sow your oats now, then when?

its very upsetting to hear kids wanting to have babies, soon we will have to deal with 10 year old girls getting pregnant this is becoming more and more frequent to hear young kids raising babies, they just approved the morning after pill for 17 year old girls next they will have to lower that age to an even younger one,and whats sad about all of this is that the majority of these teen mothers end up raising the baby on their own and the baby ends up growing up with out a father in their lives, and all because they want to be doing things that should be left until they are old enough to be able to support a baby on their own,its all the same thing they all think they will be with this guy forever and that they are in love but what do they know about real love they have not lived long enough to know.

I think most are very stupid (particular those under 18), but I don’t get upset. You can also be a bad older mum… I guess I’d prefer to see a good 15 year old mum than a 30 year old abusive one.
