For moms that took longer than two years to conceive, what is your best advice?

"After one month of trying I became pregnant and had a beautiful healthy boy!"

"After over 7 years of trying to conceive and thousands of dollars spent on infertility treatments, I had actually succeeded to get pregnant the natural way without any drugs or medical intervention "

" I just wanted to say thank you for writing this program and for giving hope to women at my age. I am 46 and I am finally going to be a mother."

I will be going to the doctor to get a check up to see if there is anything going on but I feel I am very healthy. Just want to know what lifestyle change did you make and/or mindset did you have before you were able to conceive. My husband and I have not been successful for about 2 years now and every AF that comes is a big disappointment. We are both young (mid 20′s) and healthy. I just need some encouragement! Thanks! :)

I haven’t been TTC for two years but I’m in a big hurry to do so since I need to have a hysterectomy ASAP. Because I’m 36 I had some testing done and found out that even though my cycle is very regular (except for some spotting the week before my period) and I get all the signs and symptoms of ovulation, I’m not actually ovulating. This is something that’s very easy to fix, yet could prevent me from having children indefinitely if not addressed.

It’s very likely that you have something that will be simple to fix, and being so young you’ll probably be pregnant in no time!

Edit: I hear you Pippin! I get so frustrated hearing that I should just "relax" and it’ll happen.

The best advice I can offer is to make that appointment with the doctor (a fertility specialist) and keep it.
If you’ve been trying for 2 years, and understand when you ovulate, (or have sex regularly enough that you should be hitting your fertile days without trying) there is almost certainly some medical problem that is keeping you from getting pregnant. You can appear outwardly to be 100% healthy (hubby too), and still have a treatable fertility problem.

(Your ‘mindset’ has nothing to do with it. Women can and do get pregnant when they are stressed, anxious, relaxed, happy, sad, wanting to get pregnant, NOT wanting to get pregnant, etc. Unless you are so amazingly stressed that your periods stop, stress and ‘trying’ are not forms of contraception.)

It took me 4 years to conceive. I think at the point that I had given up was when I got pregnant. Don’t be discouraged, it will happen when you least expect it to.
