It was just a miracle. It says in the Bible that the "Holy Spirit came upon her" which means God just caused her to conceive. Imaculate means perfect or free from error. The reason Jesus had to be born this way is so he would be perfect. He had to be born so that he could be fully man and fully God, but if the conception had been formed from a human union it would’ve been flawed because man is sinful.
It is called immaculate conception. Meaning God put baby Jesus into her belly without her ever having sex.

There were several virgin stories prior to the Mary. Would you believe someone if they said it today? At their time people said they were son of somebody…. Those without fathers said they were son of gd (probably not spoken allowed). History of religion is fascinating.
