My S.O. is in great shape. He looks better than a lot of younger men. He even stopped smoking about three years ago. I was wondering how hard it would be for him to conceive.

It won’t be hard at all for him to conceive. Unlike women, whom go threw menopause, men never stop being able to have children, unless they were infertile from birth.

men don’t ever stop having kids. unless they go to a sperm doc. and have all of there sperm tookin out but i think it can come back. but they would jux have to jux keep taking it out. or j*c* off. which is nasty. anyways yeah they never stop conceiving kids. oh and it’ sgood he stoped smoking b/c it’s not good to smoke while trying to have a child.(having sex). hope this helped bye. much luck

All I can say is WHY??? That would NOT be fair to ANY child to have a dad that is 70 when he/she is ONLY 10 years old, or 80 when he/she is 20, or 90 when he/she is 30… I mean c’mon really, is it NECESSARY? Get a new puppy or something. Don’t bring a fatherless child into this world DELIBERATELY!

  4. nika says:

Fertility in men (sperm production) decreases after age of 35, but they are perfectly capable of impregnating a woman at any age as long as the sperm is viable and healthy.

  5. beanslife says:

People believe the misconception that a mans fertitlity does NOT go down. However, men go through a male like menopause, called andropause. Sperm count goes down in men after the age of 35, which will affect their ability to conceive. Nothing is impossible and so yes, he can still conceive. But also be aware that they are finally doing studies on birth defects caused by aging sperm. In the past, it’s only been taking a look at the women and their aging eggs.

You can research all of this on the internet.

My man is 33 and the doctor told us that the percentage of his sperm are 70%effective,so for a man of 60 to conceive will be 12%.

  7. damaris says:

it is not hard to conceive, but the quality of the sperm is low. that could affect the health of the baby.

  8. Doodlestuff says:

If he’d been smoking all these years, it is possible there is permanent damage to the development of sperm. He might do well to get his sperm tested for number and motility. His chances are lower than a man of 45, but published stuff does say healthy men’s fertility drops after 50.

It might be easy, might be difficult. My dh is 56 and we are currently TTC our 1st together after a VR(I’m 24)! Does he have any other children? If he’s fathered before that’s a good sign. Also have him on a mulitvitamin now which will help (make sure it has Zinc and folic acid in it!). Also check into getting a Semen Analysis done just to see what the swimmers are up to and what course of action you will need to do! Best wishes! Good luck!
