What are some safe exercises I can do during pregnancy to keep my butt and body in general in shape? Besides walking. Idk if this matters but I am in my second trimester. Thanks in advance.

For your butt & thighs walking uphill, walking backwards (sounds weird but an amazing workout!), squats and lunges are great toners. Any kind of cardio will keep your body & cardiovascular system in great shape while pregnant (things like walking, running, ellyptical (sp) machine, swimming, bike riding (on stationary bike), anything active like that). They say not to start anything you didn’t do before pregnancy during pregnancy besides walking without talking to your doctor first so run your plans by them over the phone or at your next appt just to be safe :)
Prenatal yoga is also great, there are some good dvd’s you can do from home, or take a class locally if they are offered :)
    Good luck and congrats :)

PS I am 28 weeks (in my 3rd trimester now) and am still running 3-5 miles 5 days a weeks, and doing prenatal yoga 3x a week or so. For running I keep my treadmill at an incline while on it and this is a great butt/thigh workout. Also run outside where there are some hills to run up and down (or walk up and down depending on the day and how I am feeling).
Just make sure you listen to your body, they say if you can’t talk because you are breathing too hard than you are working out too hard, listen to your body when you get tired, take breaks when you need them and make sure to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated :)

    You can still exercise…
    Cardio, lunges, idk..
I’m a physical trainer, I’d just keep active and maybe do some glutes and thigh workouts at your local gym or go on demand because they have some great exercises.

Either that, or work really hard after you give birth
    Good luck with the baby:)

Dont’ do any excercises that involved laying on your back. This site can be used as a guideline. I excercised in the gym and walked a lot during my pregnancy and 4 weeks postpartum I now have a nice bubble butt lol. Good luck.

Okay this may sound dumb, but every time I blow dry my hair I do deep squats. Also, When I fold laundry I do lunges or squats in between each top I fold, this way I force my self to do it every day. It has worked out for my butt…now not sure what to do with the rest! Good Luck!
