My sister-in-law is 2 months pregnant and she is smoking and drinking and this is her third child.
She is a lazy, fat , stupid and selfish bitch. If I had any power i would take those children from her.
Nicotine is extremely addictive. And as with all addictive substances, some people have an easier time quitting and some find it impossible.
Your SIL is almost certainly severely addicted to nicotine — or else she’s in denial … or both.
Drinking? How much. An occassional drink isn’t harmful. If she’s a heavy drinker … again … she’s probably addicted/alcoholic.

Both are bad choices. I am currently 4wks 2d pregnant and as soon as I found out, I cut back my smoking. I have the goal to quit by the end of this week. Your sister in law is risking some serious birth defects/abnormalities. Try to find her some help.
i think they are selfish pieces of crap. if they cant stop smoking for their baby then what CAN they do for it? i dont see why it isnt illegal. if a woman were to hold a cig up to baby and let it take a puff it would be on the freakin national news, but pregnant women smoke everyday and no one even says anything! it is one of my biggest pet peeves.
EDIT: i think anyone who says they just COULDNT quit is FULL.OF.ISH. because i had been smoking for 4 years and i havent even been around cigarette smoke since i found out i was pregnant. i was very addicted. i was a total grump, had headaches and fidgets..but i never truely wanted one because i knew it would hurt brody.
It pisses me off actually. There are women out there who have a hard time getting pregnant (it took us 2.5 years) or who can’t get pregnant at all that would treat their bodies like temples to give that child the best possible start in life. I know that my Mom smoked when she was pregnant with me but that was 30 years ago and they know alot more about it and the affects now than they did then.
I used to smoke but quite when trying to get pregnant just so I could be as healthy as possible to carry my little one.

If you can`t give up simple things like that I don`t know how one could ever be ready to be a mother. After all that`s a huge part of being a mom is being selfless & if she can`t get her act together now I feel very sad for the future of those kids..
I ended a friendship with someone who smoked. I just could not support her or her actions.
I know sometimes women are told by their docotrs it is better to continue smoking minimally than to quit cold turkey. I try not to judge because its between the woman and her dr but I still don’t like it.
No excuse for drinking. Does she know all about fetal alcohol syndrome?

I think it’s extremely selfish!! I’m 21 and I have been smoking cigarettes since I was 14!!!! So I know how good they felt!! lol……..but as soon as I took that EPT test and it said positive I haven’t smoked a cigarette since!! So I KNOW it can be done with some willpower. I’ll be honest, I smoke weed too which I also quit that same day (and no I was not TTC, my baby was a suprise!!) but now the thought of being a Mommy has changed my priorities! Who cares about cigarettes?? I just care about my baby!!
i honeslty dont think smoking while pregnant is that big of a deal i mean i didnt and will not even chance it but my grandma and all of my aunts smoked while pregnant and all their kids came out fine now drinking is different she neededs to stop that asap
