  1. Trust me I'm a Doctor ♥ says:

Nobody can say how quickly you will conceive I’m afraid but once the device is removed your fertility will return to its "pre-Mirena" state very quickly.

You really need to use condoms until you get your period just to let the residual hormones leave your system and give the doctors a reliable LMP (last menstrual period) to work on when dating your pregnancy.

You should start to ovulate again once you have had this first period but whether you will actually become pregnant straight away is another matter. Sometimes it takes months to conceive a baby despite the best will in the world.

Best of luck. Remember to take your Folic Acid supplements. The best time to have sex is mid cycle (around days 10-18 when an egg is in the fallopian tube) and once every other day is fine, too much sex can actually deplete the man’s sperm supply

Generally, immediately. Depends on your body, but Mirena is local as far as I know, and not filling your whole body with hormones, so very soon after removal you are able to get pregnant.

My IUD was removed January 28 2010. On March 25 2010 I got a positive HPT.

My doctor told me I can get pregnant within 1 menstrual cycle after removing Mirena. I’ve never had it/I’m not going to get it but my doctor said that since it’s local and it doesn’t affect you like the pill or the shot does, it’s easier for your body to remove the hormone. So I’m pretty sure you can pregnant quickly unlike if you take the pill or shot sometimes it takes years!

i had mirena in for 2 years. and i honestly think i can’t get pregnant again due to the things it did to my body. i still don’t have a regular period and i’ve had it out for a year and a half. and there has been multiple chances of me getting pregnant, and i haven’t.

I had my Mirena removed on March 11th. 2011. Now I’m just waiting to see how long it’ll be before I can conceive again. I had the Mirena for almost three years.
