I have been on the Depo Provera shot for over a year now. I am due for my next shot March 9th but I am not going to get it. My fiance and I are concerned that the Depo shot will prevent me from being able to conceive once I am off of it. How long will it take for the shot to be out of my system so that I will be able to conceive? Also, is there anything that I can do that will increase my odds of becoming pregnant?

You should go to your Ob and talk to them about going off the shot. If you don’t have a period within the first 30-45 days after the shot your suppose to get they normally give you something to jump start your period. They will also tell you to not ttc for 6 months after the shot you are suppose to get. Just what all my Dr told me. They had to give me something to take because I didn’t have a period for a year after I went off the shot. The meds were every month til my cycle was regular again. Just make sure you see your OBGYN and have your normal check up before starting to get pregnant. Good luck!
Technically, you are supposed to be able to get pregnant immediately after stopping the Depo Provera. However, most women usually try for about 6-12 months before actually becoming pregnant.
i fell pregnant with my 2nd child (sadly lost it) with in a month of coming off my depo jag….. though when came off it last yr took me a 11 mths to get my period back.
just keep trying thats the best part ..wots meant to be will be
good luck
it can take 3 – 24 mos
hey hun! one of my best friends quit the depo thinking it could take some time before she got pregnant, and was pregnant with her now daughter in 2 months. you might just get lucky!
good luck hun!
I’ve also been on the Depo Provera shot for over a year and a half now and I got off of it for one month cause I was afraid it was messing my body up and I wanted to see if I would be able to get my period and sure enough a month after I didnt recieve the shot I got my period and on time!
I think once your body realizes you are off the shot you are at higher risk of getting pregnant!
Good luck, and hope you can conceive!
It all depends! You are supposed 2 be able 2 fall pregnant straight away after stopping the injection and it can (obviously) take up 2 a year….or longer.
I personally fell pregnant 7 months after stopping the jab
throughout my 13 months on the depo provera i have bled everyday without fail, i was due to go back on the 23rd of november but didnt purely because of the bleeding. i have since had unprotected sex with my fiance pretty much everyday, am i at more chance of getting pregnant with my body reacting differently to the injection??
