My husband and I are trying hard to conceive (maybe too hard)after he had a reversal. That was 5 months ago. How long does it usually take? I am 39 and the clock is ticking. Any advice. I hate waiting! Thank you…. Jen
you can keep going you can not try too hard
It can take anywhere from 6 momths to a year. I can understand how anxious you may be getting, my husband and i tried for over a year to become pregnant with our son.
Take extra steps to help you become pregnant. Taking a daily vitamin (both of you!), is always a plus, and it will help balance out your hormones, making conception easier.
Most people think that the more sex you have, the better. But this isnt true, because if a man continually ejaculates every month, his sperm count gets weaker and lower each time. Save ejaculation for only the time of your ovualtion.
If you have regular periods, then your time of ovulation is usually around 14 days after the start of your last period. For example, if you started your periods on teh 1st of the month, then your time of ovualtion would be on the 15th of the month. Have sexual intercourse a few days before, on , and after this time.
If you have irregualr periods, it may be difficult to determine when you are ovulating. I had irregualr periods. But you can buy an ovulation test, for about $10, at almost any store that sells pregnancy tests and such. I bought mine at Walmart. Teh way you usse the test is by dipping the test strip in your urine. It can tell when you are about to ovulate.
After you have figured out when you are ovulating and you have sexual intercourse, keep you legs and hips elevated for at least 30 minutes. This helps the sperm get where it needs to go. Most of the time when a women doesnt get pregnant, its because she stands up shortly after sex, and the sperm drips out.
Remember, a woman only has a 25-33% chance of becoming pregnanct if she has sexual intercourse at the time of ovualtion. Getting pregnant isnt as easy as people say it is. This is why it can take a few mnths of trying for some couples. I knwo you hate waiting, but you really have no choice…lol. And i know its hard.
Make sure your husbadn is staying healthy as well. What he does strongly affects his sperm, such as smoking or drinking. If he does any of these, have him quit or at least cut back until you have become pregnant.

Reversals don’t always work.
My past friends husband had it done, and they never did have kids..( he did have 2 kids from his 1st marriage).
I’m sure he will have to go to the Dr. and have his sperm count checked and their health.+ Are you sure you can get pregnant?

well when you reverse a vasectomy or a tubal ligation it isn’t 100% guarentee that you will get or get someone pregnant ever again.
all you can do is keep on trying.
1.keep track of your ovulation day(s)
2.take your temp everyday (body basal therometer)
3.relax
4.don’t treat sex as a job , have fun with it!
5.go to the doctor
6.don’t have sex everyday (decreases chances)
7.make him wear boxers shorts
8.after sex hold your legs up for 15 minutes so the sperm will not come back out so quick (help it along)

i had a tubal reversal and it took six months for me so it should be about the same with men also it will happen when u least expect it .good luck
