I’ve been on depo birth control for 2 years and have now been off of it for 7 months my doct gave me medroxyprogesterone to bring on my periods cuz I was spotting a little bit before that and I’m just woundering how long after taking this medication can I get pregnant. I only have 2 pills left. Any help pls! TTC

I actually am going through this too. I was on the pill for 7 yrs and got off them May this yr to ttc. I had a withdrawal bleed then nothing else since. I just finished my medroxyprogesterone Sunday. I don’t believe I ovulate on my own, so hopefully this med will regulate my cycle. If it does work, you should be able to use ovulation predictor sticks starting around day 10 of your cycle. This med does not make you ovulate though, just brings on a period. So, your best bet it start having sex at about day 10 going to day 20 every other day.
It wont induce ovulation or makes you pregnant. That medication kind of fakes what your body does after ovulation… its a synthetic progesterone. During a normal cycle, when you ovulate, the egg is released from a follicle… the follicle then starts making progesterone. The progesterone helps prepare the body for implantation and it keeps your period away. If you are not pregnant, that follicle starts to die off, and your progesterone falls, which triggers your body to shed the lining and start your period.
So taking that pill just cause a bleed. Your doctor was hoping that by causing a bleed, your body might now have just been ‘reset’ in a way and your cycles would resume. Some women skip an ovulation and their bodies just get stuck in limbo, not doing anything… by triggering a period, it can restart things for many women..
If you have no problems like PCOS you may even get ovulation in this month itself..So chart BBT for entire month or do OPK test after 10 days ..and see whether you are ovulating and do BD on those days..Best Of Luck
Hi,
I was also put on medroxyprogesterone. I just took my second pill today. I would love to be pregnant, but haven’t had a period since sept. 2010 after going off BC. Has the medroxyprogesterone worked for you? Any advice would help. Thanks
