My husband and I are trying to have children. He just had a vasectomy reversal done back in April. We know that it can take a while to become pregnant, we were just wondering if anyone else could tell us how long it took them to get pregnant. Just to kinda give us a time line. Thanks.
I do know that not all reversals are a success, but i we did just have it done a few months ago, so i’m not going to coutn it of yet.

  1. Doctor Tony says:

It can take up to a year for the damage from vasectomy to reverse itself and allow a man to produce enough viable sperm.

Three months after the surgery a semen analysis can be done to assess the success of returning patency to the vas, but only about 30% to 50% of couples are pregnant one year out. If you go two years out, the numbers improve to over 60%.

    Good luck.

Your answer is basically ‘ How long is a piece of string’ it could be months, even years, has the Doctor spoke to you about the possibility of the reversal not working? Not every reversal is successful.

I don’t mean to sound negative, but it is a possibility.

it takes a few months for the sperm to appear again in the semen. within about 2 year, more than half of men will successfully be able to conceive.
