I was wondering if an irregular period affects how long you have to wait to get an accurate pregnancy test reading. For example, I have mine every other month as opposed to the normal monthly cycle. Does that mean I would have to wait as long as 6 weeks for an accurate result?

Nope. Whether you cycle monthly or not, if you are pregnant, the hormones are still there. I have an irregular cycle, and I’ve never had an inaccurate reading, and I’ve got two kids. Wait the normal amount of time, and you should be fine.

Nope it should be the same 10-14 days after ovulation. That is if you know when you ovulated.

No your irregular period wont affect the test result. The result comes from detecting an amount of a "pregnancy hormone" so if you are pregnant ,10-14 days after your ovulation (the day you became pregnant) it will be positive.Good luck

yes that’s just right amount you can wait til you can get an accurate test

I think they recommend that you take it one to two weeks after your first missed period (although in your case it sounds like you really wouldnt know when to take it). And if your periods are that irregular then i would suggest going to your doctor and having them do the test there. It would be alot more accurate and alot quicker… :)

Um, i just thought of something. Maybe, take it around the time that you would normally get your period even if you havent gotten it? im sure by that time you would have enough of the hormone to show up on a hpt test… i hope i could help.

5-6 days after you miss the period.
