I know some tests show you’re pregnant a week before your missed period, but how soon after you have sex is that? A week? Two weeks? What?
The earliest one can tell you Two Weeks after CONCEPTION.
So if you had sex and a sperm met an egg on the 1st of July… it MIGHT be able to tell you a yes or no on the 14th of July…
But
Hormones are screwy things and if your not sure of the exact date of conception… Since sperm can live for 3 days after ejaculated and therefore can penetrate an egg up to about 3 days after sex… it MIGHT not work until the 17th or 18th… (Between the 14th and 18th day)
Wait at least 18 days after sex to start using the "2-week" pregnancy test because before that, you are just throwing your money away…

if you are on a 28-day cycle, it would mean that anywhere from 1-3 weeks ago you conceived. but you could still have a period when you are pregnant, so you could be as much as 3 months along or more…a doctor can best determine your conception date by how many weeks along the baby seems to be.

It depends on when you actually conceived. Most couples have sex days before they actually conceive because sperm can live inside the woman for days waiting for the egg to drop. If you have regular periods and can predict when your period is supposed to start then just count back 14 days from then. That is most likely when you ovulated and the egg was fertilized. A home pregnancy test will almost always work on the day your period is supposed to start, but sometimes sooner. It detects the pregnancy hormone hCG which starts being released after implantation which can take anywhere from 6-12 days past ovulation but usually around 9 dpo. Try to figure out when you ovulated and if you can’t I would wait about 10 days after you had sex, but remember the chance of a false negative is very high so soon after. Best of luck to you!
