This will be our first month of actually trying to conceive. I heard that having too much sex like every day can affect the sperm and am wondering how often we should be having sex or is that just a myth? My period’s first day was Sept. 28th and ended on Oct. 2. How often and on which days should we be having sex? I think my ovulation day should be Oct. 12.

There’s no reason to do it every other day. That is a misconception. It doesn’t effect sperm. New research suggests having sex everyday slightly increases your odds.

  2. Llewella says:

I think the best policy is to have sex every other day until you’re near ovulation (starting to have ewcm or get a +OPK) and then every day until after ovulation. If you’re serious about conceiving immediately, go get some ovulation predictor kits and start taking them!

I would suggest you to try using "ovulation calculator" which tells you the days you would be fertile or ovulating.
All you gotta do is enter the first day of your last period and then grab your partner and get goin;)

All d best and lots of baby dust:)

    Also I read this online:-
For the average couple, having sex once per day provides the best chance of getting pregnant.
To optimize your chances of getting pregnant, after your partner ejaculates, remain on your on your back with your hips elevated for 20-30 minutes.
The woman-on-top position isn’t great for pregnancy, since ejaculate may flow out.
    MORE INFORMATION:
Most women have a 15 to 25 percent chance of getting pregnant during their cycle.
Nearly 50 percent of couples conceive during the first 3 months.
About 75 percent of couples conceive during the first 6 months.
Up to 90 percent of couples conceive during the first year.

Hope the above info helped you:)

My wife is very regular, was before she got pregnant, and still is after our child was born, so I trusted her to let me know when she was most likely to conceive. We did it every day and it worked fine. First try. Good luck and God bless!

The truth is, in my experience, that trying to make a scheduled activity out of it gets you no place except disappointed. The more you have sex, in the end, the better the chances of conceiving.

  6. ~Alex~ says:

They say every other day around ovulation. Like the 5 days before and a couple of days after. My husband and I had sex almost everyday last month and I got my period and the month before that every other day so its different for every couple. This will be our 3rd month. Hopefully this will be our month. Baby Dust to you and God Bless.

After four years of trying I was told by my fertility doctor to make love every other day from the eighth to the eighteenth day of your cycle, the 1st day being the 1st day of your period. This means that you cover your ovulation dates because sperm can remain for two days inside you.
This method worked three times for me, It has also worked for three very stressed friends and it isn’t messy or expensive. Don’t panic if it takes a while and good luck.

  8. Allison Marie, RN & TTC #1 says:

If you have a normal 28-day cycle, then you should ovulate on Oct 12, although this can vary and not all women ovulate when they are ¨supposed to¨. As others suggested, you can get the ovulation predictor kits. Start testing on about day 10 of your cycle (Oct 8, in this case) and test every day until you get a positive result.

As far as how often to have sex, every day during your fertile period is recommended if your partner has a normal sperm count. If his sperm count is low, try every other day to allow his sperm supply to replenish.

If you don´t know his sperm count, assume it is normal for 6 months. If you´re not pregnant by then, try out the low sperm count schedule.

Best of luck and lots of baby dust :)

Does it matter if you have sex while she is not ovulating? Is there any effect of sperm count from a male’s perspective?

  10. Dani says:

I actually did some research on this awhile back because my husband and I are also trying to conceive. An article I found suggested that it is best to have sex every third day so that the sperm will be more dense and there will be an increased chance that an egg will be fertilized.
