I’m not talking about in vitro fertilization or any of those things. I’m referring to your standard pregnancy. I hear that after 35, there’s a prohibitive chance of birth defects. I’m not pregnant now, nor will be in the near future, just planning ahead at 31.

i am going to say 50 or the greatest 53 because my moms friend had 0ne at 50 and it was healthy.but rememer, the older u r the more chance of problems such as dislexia and brain problems…hoped i helped!!!
ur right after 35 its more risk and pluse its unfair to the kids u dont want to be an old old mom not saying ur but everone dies and its easier to have kids younger like ur age
It’s been some time since I read up on this, but I think the risk for Down’s Syndrom starts in the 40′s and increases with age. Not sure on the statistics for other problems, but I’d think they’d be about the same.
My 1st (and probably only at this age!) was at 39 and he’s happy and healthy. Home birth.
I heard it was around 50, but I think it’s healthy as long as you have the strength and fertility. At any age is never too old to get a natural pregnancy, in my opinion. It’s just as long as you planned it out thoroughly and can handle it. n_n
Statistically, chances of birth defects increase around the age of 35, and then again after 40, and so on. But that’s not to say that you’re destined to have a bad pregnancy or unhealthy child at that age.
I think your own genetics and lifestyle plays more of a role than just your age. After all, if you turn 35, but have "the body of a 29-year-old" are your chances of having a baby with birth defects better or worse?
I think they start being concerned after age 35, for the reasons you stated. Your chances are higher of having health issues, but many women are having babies well into their 40s now. I just heard of a 62 year old woman who had twins!!
probably 50 +.
It all depends on the health of the woman trying to have the baby.
I don’t think that I would try to get pregnant past the age of 45. I am currently 36 and trying for baby number 2 and I don’t feel like I am too old, but this will be it for me.
to be honest with you, i dont know about birth defects after 35, but in my opinion it doesnt matter about your age, if you can mentally cope and physically then why not. go for it when you feel ready. hugs xx
