How soon after intercourse can you test for pregnancy?

Alright my periods have always been off, Sometimes I’ll go 3-4 months without a period at all, sometimes less. So I can’t judge potential pregnancy off that, so is there a set number of days after sex you can test for pregnancy? Most pregnancy tests read "Up to 5 days before your missed period" and well that doesn’t apply to me since my periods are always late regardless.
Unfortunately there is no guarantee how long it takes after sex to get pregnant. Our bodies can actually hold sperm for a short amount of time too, so it could take 2 days after or it could happen right away… the only thing you can really do is wait for other signs of pregnancy (besides a later period) like breast tenderness, nausea, increased sense of smell or urinating more frequently.
My periods have always been regular, but the other signs are what made me test, even though they can be signs of your period too, it is still something to go off of.
It depends on when you are ovulating. If you are not ovulating or close to ovulating or ending ovulation and have sex, you will likely not get pregnant.
i would say about 2 weeks after intercourse. You need time for the sperm to fertilize the egg and that takes 7 days. good luck!
If you have very irregular periods you may not ovulate regularly. You should have this checked because it means it will be much harder to conceive if that is what you are trying to do. But I would wait 2 or 3 weeks after sex to test to give your body time to begin producing readable amounts of hcg
