I’ve been on the pill since I was 16 and I’m now 30. I’d like to conceive by the end of the summer so I’ll be at my biggest in the winter. I’d rather carry all that weight in the wintertime than in the heat of Texas summer. It’s not fun.

You need to make the choice yourself as noone can advise you on how soon you will fall pregnant after stopping BC. Your doctor will most likely tell you that most women conceive within 3-6 months of stopping BC, however, it is a real possibility that you may conceive immediately or it could even take longer. It all depends on how quickly the BC is eliminated from your system.

    Good luck xx

I say get off birth control now. It can take awhile to get your body back to regular shape. In the meantime, use condoms until you are ready to start trying.

  3. Susu says:

the birth control pill can be a major deterrent if you have been on it for a long time and trying to conceive, i would suggest get off it as soon as you can and try

    good luck =]

3 months prior to when u want to conceive

  5. Christine1123 says:

Start TTC around May or June. Since you’ve been on your pills for 14 years, you’ll need to stop taking them a LOT sooner- maybe now if you want to. You might already have a hard time conceiving at your age (no offense, just the older you are the less your chances, unless you’ve taken a fertility test before). Start healthy habits like quitting smoking, exercising, and eating healthy now to help increase your chances.

Quit the pill 2-3 months before trying to conceive to clean out your system and start taking daily prenatal vitamins. Remember it actually takes 10 months of gestation so you will be pregnant for part of the summer.

Probably anytime from now to the end of this year. It may take your body a few months to regulate back with ovulation and all. If you’re still not sure, you should probably ask for your doctor’s opinion.

  8. AMenKes says:

You can start trying to conceive immediately after stopping a pack of pills. However, for determining due date more accurately, most OBs prefer you wait for at least one period. If you were already experiencing regular periods before getting on the pill, you can stop 1 cycle-length prior to when you want to become pregnant. However, since this is (I’m assuming) your first baby and you are 30, your body will be at its first drop in fertility and it may take you a few months to become pregnant.

Dr. Joseph Hill: Ovulation could return as early as the next menstrual cycle after you stop taking birth control pills, although regular cycles (every 24 to 32 days) could be delayed for a few months. Once your ovulatory cycle does return, your chances of getting pregnant are about 20% per month. If regular cycles don’t return within six months after you stop taking birth control, talk with your doctor.

i would really stop takin them now and try those fertility test strips to see when u are most fertal…. that was when u are ready around april or may or so. u can be ready and free of the birth control hormons and with those tests ull also knw when not to have sex as well as your own form of natural birthcontrol untill ur ready.

  11. kaybrenn says:

3-6 months. I’d go with 6 since you’ve been on it for so long.
You should probably get off them during the next month or so.. you never know how long it will take you. You may even get pregnant right off the bat.. every body reacts differently.

Everyone is different, some people can conceive a month after getting off the pill and some it takes years. I would get off of it now and start using condoms, this will get the pill out of your system and make it easier to conceive when you’re ready. If you don’t want to be big in the summer then a good time to stop using condoms would be between February and March. This way if you get pregnant right away you won’t be large during the summer. And if it takes a while to get pregnant you still have quite a while before you have to worry about next summer.

  13. Rhuby says:

The sooner you stop taking them the better your chances of conceiving. Even if you stop taking them today you can avoid unwanted early pregnancy by switching to condoms, or another non-hormonal contraceptive. That will give your body extra adjustment time while your still in control of not conceiving early.

  14. HooKooDooKu says:

Get off the BC NOW!!! and start TTC NOW!!!

TTC is NOT something you can do on a schedule. Something they do not teach you in sex ed is that even when you’ve done everything right to try to get pregnant, you only have about a 20% chance of getting pregnant in any given month. So that means that for a typical healthy couple with no fertility issues, it should take an AVERAGE of 6 months of trying to get pregnant.

When you consider that you’re already over the age of 30, your fertility is already begining to wane. It will likely take a nose dive after age 35. So it’s possible you might spend a year TTC. And then if you happen to be one of those 10% of couples who do have trouble concieving, it could take years.

So while it’s POSSIBLE that you could stop the birth control now, TTC next month, and have a baby in August of next year… THE ODDS ARE GREATLY AGAINST IT!

  15. jessiebrooke_27 says:

so you want to give labor in the winter/early spring. How pregnant do you want to be at Christmas? Because you generally shouldnt travel 6 weeks before your due date or after you give birth. I am going to assume you want to give birth in the early spring/late winter (February/March), so you want to get pregnant in June/July ish. It may take your body a while to rid itself of the effects of birth control, and since you are 30 it may take a bit longer to get pregnant in general. I would think you would want to stop taking birth control now and use other contraception until may to ensure your body has the best possibility of getting pregnant. You should also consider taking some supplements (obviously talk to your doctor) to increase your chances of getting pregnant when you want to. Good luck!
