YES, take a prenatal vitamin when TTC. You’ll also want to (if your not already) eat a very healthy diet… as if you were already pregnant… just don’t add any calaries until you are pregnant. Treat your body like you would if you were already pregnant – Quit smoking (if you smoke), don’t drink alcohol (if you drink)…. and so on.

Yeah is very important that you get you body ready for your baby, start taking folic acid. You could go to any pharmacy & get it over the counter.

    .. Good Luck…

you should take folic acid 400 micro grams as soon as you ttc but changing to a pregnancy vitamin is only necessary when you have conceived as too much vit A is toxic to a feotus

Definitely a good idea. You should take folic acid for 3 months prior to pregnancy and for at least the first trimester to decrease your risk of neural tube defects. Don’t take general multivitamins not designed for pregnancy as Vitamin A can cause birth defects.

My doctor prescribed AZ Vinate prenatal vitamins when I told him I was trying to conceive. He stated that it is very important to have vitamins and nutrients ready and available for baby becuase by the time most women discover that they are pregnant it is around 5-6 weeks. The nurse gave me several other prenatal samples to try. But be careful…….. vitamin overdose can be a serious problem especially if you are taking more than 400mg of folic acid a day.
