Can a girl start taking birth control if she is ALREADY pregnant?
By the way, this is for a college survey on birth control and people’s accurate knowledge on the subject. My group has divided up and asked different questions concerning BC in different platforms.

If a woman is pregnant then she doesn’t go on the pill. Why would she? One wouldn’t want to cause harm to the little one.
I think so.
why would she do that? its not like she can get pregnant while shes preganant.
and i wouldnt suggest a female take BC if shes pregant. theres enough risks as it is taking it in the first place so why take something u dont even need for 9 months?
vvell NO. If she is already pregnant then there is nothing you can do. Birth control is to help to NOT get pregnant, if you are pregnant and take birth control it vvill do nothing.
She shouldn’t start birth control if she’s already pregnant. She should go see a doctor.
if your doctors find out, you coulod get in alot of trouble, cause your pretty much trying to kill your baby if your already pregnant then start taking birth control.
why would she need to?
thats pretty retarted if she did cause birth control just stops you from having a kid!
and if shes already pregnant then whats the point?
its people like you that bother me! =/
Yes, but at significant risk to the baby. RU486 is exactly that–post-conception birth control. In most cases it terminates the pregnancy by preventing the zygote from implanting on the uterine wall. However, it’s call the "morning after pill" because it has to be taken very soon after conception. The longer you wait, the less effective it is at terminating, and then only poses risks to the baby due to the fact that BC alters a woman’s hormones, and the hormonal balance during pregnancy is critical.
If she wants the baby, she should not take it, and there is no reason–she won’t get her period and she can’t get twice as pregnant. If she doesn’t want the baby and already knows she’s pregnant, she needs to see her doctor. Don’t do something foolish like trying to home remedy an unwanted pregancy.
Yes, she can, but what would be the point? If she thinks she is pregnant, she should wait to test first. However, it is very unlikely that the birth control pill will cause any harm. Thousands of women took birth control before they knew they were pregnant and there are no demonstrable problems with the children that resulted.
Poster Dexter really needs to get better educated. There is a significant difference between Plan B (morning after pill) and RU-486 (abortion ‘pill’). The morning after pill is essentially a megadose of birth control pills, nothing like you would ordinarily take. RU-486 works entirely differently.
why would she do that the whole point of birth control is to prevent pregancy. doctors tell mothers who are expecting not to take birth control while pregant.
what would be the point? if your talking about the pill etc then no because its not going to do any good for the baby. plus its only used to prevent pregnancy so its a bit late for that.
theres nothing stopping her if she wants to but theres a good chance she’d harm her baby
Birth control is by prescription, and no doctor worth their license would prescribe BC to a pregnant woman. Normally, a pregnancy test is taken before the prescription is given. For what reason would a pregnant person take birth control anyway?
well, me and my bf had a condom accident and i ended up pregnant, i had taken the morning after pill which obv hadnt worked but i wasnt aware of it. i went to my doctor to go and get the implant, he asked if u could be pregnant and i sed i didnt think so, he should have tested but didnt, and put the implant in, it caused me to miscarriage. it was a doctors error and it normally wouldnt be able to occur. so it is possible but unlucky and there isnt really a point.
Hello,
Birth control will do no good once someone is pregnant. In fact, as previously mentioned, it could harm the pregnancy. You might want to go to http://www.picturesofpregnancystages.net for more information for your research.
