I am on family planning injections for a year now and my periods have been okay, but last month i was given a different injection for 3 months because the one i used to take there was a shortage. The problem is i have not had my periods from last month up to day though i feel like periods pains but nothing… is it possible that i can be pregnant or thats how injections do sometimes… and is it ok to feel nausea sometimes?please help.

I was on Depo Provera for 3 years, and by the 4th month (the 2nd injection) I was not having periods. I was told this is sometimes just the way a woman’s body reacts to having ‘the shot’…

Also it is not 100% effective so yes you could be pregnant, I would not suggest buying the over the counter kind however because the chemicals in the birth control can effect the outcome of the store bought tests.
Head to you obgyn or a free clinic and have them test you… Its better to waist the 16$ and be told your stressing for nothing than to worry over it and now know.
In many cases, the birth control injection you are refering to(taken every 3 months), can cause your period to completely stop. If you are worried, you should take a pregnancy test, but more than likely it is a side effect from the injection.
No, you are not pregnant. its just that these different injections affects your hormones differently.
I never had a period while on the injections. They affect women differently, but loss of period is a very common side effect. I would get mild cramping and irritability…but no period. Nausea can also be a side effect, and it happened to me occasionally.
As for getting pregnant while on the injection…there’s always that 2% chance. I’ve never personally heard of it happening to anyone, but if you are worried it wouldn’t hurt to take a home pregnancy test. It would give you some piece of mind.
NO birth control is 100% effective.
Really it can be either or… I got pregnant on the depo shot! I kept thinking that my symptoms were just a side affect of the shot! So, it can happen… I’m proof! You CAN get a store bought hpt, it WILL be accurate. Ignore the person that told you that it would not be, that is untrue! The shot (or any other form of birth control) does not contain the HCG that the pregnancy tests detect. The hormones in the shot ARE completely different then the hormones in pregnancy! My test came up positive strait away. I took the shot in November and got pregnant in January!
Best to take a test to know for sure!
Very best wishes!
