I’ve always read/heard that missionary is the best position. And laying still or with your butt elevated could help!
I’m not sure about the ovulating part, but the next time you are at your OBGYN you should ask what position is the best for yu to conceive. I had a tilted uterus so for us it was the um…canine position. It worked, due date on 5/20/09!!!!
Missionary is the best position but doggy style is good too. This is because with thoses positions you get deeper penetration and the sperm is deposited closer to the cervix.
I can’t tell you when you would ovulate unless I knew how long your cycle is and the length of your luteal phase. Try an online calculator. They are not 100% accurate, but if you know a lot about your body they can be. You could also use an opk or chart your bbt’s. You can learn everything you need to know about ttc in the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. Great book!
General rule of thumb (IF you have a "normal" predictable cycle) is 14 days after and 14 days before your next cycle is due to start. Sometimes women have physical signs of ovulating. This last pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage 3 weeks after finding out I was pregnant when I was ovulating I noticed a clear filmy discharge when I wiped which looked like egg whites. This from what I have been told is the discharge that some women get when they are ovulating. Other women have been known to spot a little when an egg is released. It all depends on the woman… My husband and I are wanting to try again, since the loss of our Angel had crushed us, and I am just ending my first cycle since the miscarriage. I went to Walmart and bought and Ovulation Strip Kit that contains 20 test strips that will tell you when your body is going to have the LH surge which means that if you know when your surge is sometimes it is easier to try to conceive around that time.
If your cycle is normal start counting from the first day of this period that you are having now, and count up 14 days, and watch for any signs of ovulation after that date.
I have heard that missionary position is best, but if you are meant to get pregnant it doesnt matter what position you are in when it happens. I have also heard that not getting up for at least 20 minutes after the "baby dance" your chances for sperm to get where they need to go is better, but haven’t heard an exact answer either way.
Good luck with everything and baby dust to us both. keep me posted.
I read your question and I understand your frustration, my dear.
Believe it or not, my husband and I tried to conceive for more than 8-months. We tried to refrain from sex for days and even weeks but it didn’t help.
Worst part is, there were empty hopes – I thought I was pregnant but in the end I wasn’t. It’s really frustrating and I understand that.
I was in Yahoo Answers and in this section quite some time ago and I ask a question similar to yours and a person recommended me a book. It’s entitled "Getting Pregnant Bible". I swear it’s like a gift from God!
It teaches stuffs like the seven things you need to do before even you try to get pregnant to ensure a healthy pregnancy; the appropriate diet to conceive; how to increase your husband’s sperm count; the ovulation cycle and many others!
I am already having my 4th child now! I really recommend that you try reading this book out. Also, they are currently giving free bonus books like fertility secrets and choosing your baby gender! It’s for a limited time only!

No. All of this is myth. There is absolutely no serious research about this. The male sperm is entirely guides by chemical stimuli and its speed and perseverance is genetically fixed and cannot be influenced by the position. There could be some logic in saying that in an upright position it is more likely for the sperm to "fall out" but that is nonsense; the sperm has to travel upward anyway to get to the egg and it will. The only thing I can think of is if your partner retracts the penis and you stand up right after ejaculation and parts of the semen drops out of the vagina. But that has little to do with the original position.
