I’ve been on the pill for 4 1/2 years due to extremely painful cramps. Every cycle I would be bedridden, often vomiting for days. Now that I’m married and thinking of starting a family I’m worried about coming off of the pill. Unless we conceive the first month of trying, will my cycles be as painful as before? Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so, how long did it take you to conceive and how were your periods in the meantime?

I had the same issue before being on birth control but since being off it my periods are lighter, shorter and I never get cramps. I used to get them so bad I would vomit! I got pregnant both times the first month of trying. Good luck!!
I was scared of the same thing being that I have PCOS and Endometriosis, I have been on the pill for 7 years and came off of it in July to begin TTC. I have only had one period and it was not too painful actually it was shorter than when I was on the pill. You’ll never know until you try is what my husband told me and we baby danced a lot to avoid a period but were not successful. We have not yet been successful, I heard that the average 25 year old it takes 6 months to conceive maybe we will be faster than that. Best of luck!
I had been on the pill for over 10 years before I wanted to have a baby. My period was extra heavy and well, debilitating as a teen and yearly 20′s. When I stopped in Jan. I was pregnant by July and the periods leading up to that were like they belonged to someone else: light, relatively pain free, just some bloating and general irritability. Having read some other answers to your question I would also suggest that you speak with your doctor first. His/Her knowledge and experience may save you some time and pain.
you’re never going to get pregnant if you dont try. Think of it this way, you might take a few months to conceive but then you wont have to deal with your period for a year! (10 months gestation and if you breast feed you’ll hold off your period even longer)
when you come off the pill you will bleed for about 3 wks straight or more!!!..i know sounds scary butt its worth having a child!!!….you will bleed untill youre body is used to being off the pill!!!…hope i could help
It’s possible that your cycles may regulate them after four years on the pill. You can always try. Talk to your dr about pain management. Taking codeine while ttc is not a good plan.
Talk to your doctor, but there is no guarantee it will be bad. I found that after being on the pill for a year, it took nearly a year for the awful cramps to return again. However, they are not nearly as bad as they once were. Still knocks me out for one day, but not the 4-5 days it used to.
I was on the pill for a little over a year to help regulate my cycles and to help with cramping. I had tried switching birth control brands because my one was causing me to have headaches, but the changes in hormones messed with my cycles, so I decided to go off of it for a month to let my body get back to normal. I conceived during that month that I was off and am now 30 weeks pregnant. I have heard that for some women that going off the pill makes you more fertile that month right after, but its all up to what your body wants to do. Some women can feel when the ovulate, as I can, so I was able to time when I should have intercourse to conceive. I’m not sure if you can. I hope this helps, and good luck!!!
I have had this my whole life except while on the pill. It is usually caused to scar tissue called endometriosis. I just had surgery for this in June. I’ve been ttc for 2 years now. I was successful last year but had a M/C. I do have 61/2 year old son which i conceived while on the pill. This is going to sound really stupid but the best thing i say is to get a cold take some antibiotics but try that month and the month after you take them. That is how i got pregnant the first time with my son. Endometriosis is not active while your on the pill. So still taking the pill doesn’t flare it up and the antibiotics cancel out the pill.
Sounds so stupid but works. I just don’t want to you to go down a long road like i have. Although you may conceive on your own but it is usually hard for people that have this. You can also talk to your OB about the surgery to clear it out. It is only good for about 6-8 mo. but that would help you out now.
sorry about the novel.
I haven’t had your problem but maybe you can talk to your doctor and maybe he will perscribe something that you can take while trying to conceive for pain if and when you do get your period.
When I was pregnant, my doctor told me he would perscibe me tylonal with codine for pain, I have a disc problem in my back. If I couldn’t suffer through the pain with just regular tylonal.
