I had a stillborn son, two years ago. We don’t know why it happened. I am trying to convince my husband to have another baby, but I also have my own fears. I mean, what if it happens again? Tell me what are my chances of having another stillbirth. What are my chances of having a healthy pregnancy and subsequent birth and baby? Any information, not opinions, are appreciated. Please and thank you in advance.
Does anyone know if my next pregnancy will be categorized as high risk or anything, since my stillbirth?

I can’t imagine what it must have been like to lose a child…

One option that is available to you is preconception counseling. Ask your OB if they can do that or you. If not, find another! In preconception counseling, your OB will sit down with you, review your history, and perhaps even do some blood work.

Because of your loss, any subsequent pregnancies will be categorized as high risk. That doesn’t necessarily mean much more than a few extra visits and some extra ultrasounds, though. You also would not be able to deliver at an "all natural" birthing center.

I hope this information helps you… Book an appointment! Maybe sitting down with a doctor will help to ease your husband’s concerns, as well as your own.

    sorry to hear that

In have never known of anyone having 2 stillbirths.
You will go on to have a healthy baby,
medics will be more involved with next watching closely for any problems.

I personally know 3 people that have had stillbirths and have gone on to have a healthy baby

    Good luck

Im so sorry about your loss. It must have been and still is so heartbreaking.

Im not sure about your chances of stillbirth, but I would say extremely low as your OB will be monitoring you very closely and you will be classed as high risk for your next pregnancy.

    Best of luck

Best of luck to you, I hope everything goes okay with your next pregnancy. That’s sad to hear :(

Sometimes your family history can be a sign of what your pregnancy will be like. Check out articles like this one:

Perhaps it will help, and again all the best to you.

I’m sorry about your loss, however I applaud you for wanting to have another child. In answer to your question… your chances are very slim, unless there is a history of multiple miscarriages. I understand your fears, but something that has always helped me through difficult times is to believe that everything happens for a reason, and we may never know what that reason is. Just know that god always has & always will have a plan for you.
