I recently quit my job because of a high risk pregnancy and illness. My doctor is willing to write a letter to verify, but I was wondering what kind of options I have (unemployment, disability….etc.) Thanks for the help.
I didn’t just up and quit. I gave my two weeks notice and became very ill. I began to recover and they told me not to bother coming in for my last few shifts.

It’s probably different in other countries, but here in UK if any part of your job makes pregnancy a risk, or increases a risk, then the employer has a legal obligation to find you alternative duties. If this is not possible then you are signed off on full pay until your maternity leave starts. For example, I was teaching, and during my free lessons I used to be expected to deal with kids who’d been made ot leave due to poor behaviour. Not only was I given an additonal 2 hours free each week but I was immediately removed form this duty, in case a kid got violent towards me or something.

You may find if there were alternative duties you coould have carried out in your employment then you’re not entitled to benefits as you quit off your own back, you weren’t sacked or made redundant so it is expected you provide for yourself financially. There are few jobs were a pregnant woman can’t do ANYTHING in without risk to her pregnancy.

    –edit–
It doesn’t matter- you resigned, therefore it is assumed if you voluntarily left then you have alternative means to support yourself. You can’t just jack a job in then claim benefits.

Not eligible for unemployment since you just up and quit -

California is the ONLY state that offers disability while pregnant –

    Otherwise there’s welfare

**Edit: You still quit vs. being laid off or fired
