I had my tubal in 2002 and have since met my husband. He has no children and we would love to have one or more together. I have heard that sometimes tubals become ineffective after 5 years or more. Is this true? What about fertility drugs? Are there any ways to get pregnant without the surgery?

hi i had a tubal reversal in Feb of 08 and got pregnant 4 months later, but sadly miscarried at 7 weeks, due to low progesterone levels, you only can get pregnant WITH the surgery, very slim chance of getting pregnant now,i would due research before doing to see what doctor is best for you
good luck, i paid 6200(out of pocket)

chances are almost zero without having a reversal surgery, and even at that they are chancy.especially if they were cut and burned like mine were instead of clamped.

My doctor told me at my checkup before I had my baby that a tubal is permanent. My mother has had one done for 15 years and it is still effective. You can have the surgery as long as you just had them clamped. If they were burned or cut then the surgery most likely will not work. The surgery is probably the best way to go.

    Good LUck!!

this is funny this is coming up, a friend of mine is going thro the SAME thing. they told her that she could get a tubal reversal but that would cost around 15,000 dollars, or she could have IVF which would cost around 50,000 dollars. But she asked the doctors what r the chance of her just getting pregnant on her own, they said like .5%. she is going to do the ivf and that by passes the tubes being tied!

I would talk to your OB, but I have heard the chances of getting pregnant are pretty slim. You could try a reversal…Good Luck
