I’m sure it probably varies by state, but typically what happens when a woman is pregnant in jail? Does she get regular hospital treatment, different food at the cafeteria, other privileges? What about the child and the birth itself? How often can the mother see the child, etc?
Convicts in prison are much better treated than we who have to work for a living. A pregnant women gets medical treatment, three meals a day, clothing for herself and for the baby once it is born, post natal care for herself and the baby. I think that once the baby is born, though, the state comes in and puts the child into a orphanage. After all the government wouldn’t want to be too nice to the pregnant convict.
