Get her a nice gift basket with bath stuff for HER, not the baby. I got my sister one with little trial sizes of body wash, lotion, and shampoo to take with her to the hospital. She thought it was really nice.

The fisher price ocean wonders aquarium is a relatively inexpensive gift that she would appreaciate. I just decided to get someone this as well. I was sitting here thinking about what my favorite and/or most useful gift I’ve received is and that is it. My son loves to watch and listen to it while he goes to sleep and it makes naptime and bedtime so pleasant. It’s not something I would have thought to buy, but I don’t know what I would do without it.

I think you should buy a large basket with a handle. then buy things like baby spoons forks ect. food, and rattles and blankets and normal baby gifts…and get that clear/colored/saran rap rapping paper and rap the basket. It would also be nice to make a card on the computer.
also in the basket you may want to include things like:
    Rattles
    Bottles
    Blankets
    Binkies
    baby formula
    Spit Rags,
    Clothes
    eating tools(for the baby)
    or
you can make the baby a baby box…buy a box, buy a baby book, get pictures put baggys that say First hair cut or first lost tooth. and put a bow on it and ship it.

    It turns out nice(expeirience)

    Good Luck!!

First you can never go wrong with getting her more diapers. I never realized how many I would need and I got five cases of diapers at my baby shower.

However some items that I absolutely love now that I never even thought of are:
    1. A heart beat machine. My best friend found this for me. It’s a little noise machine that has several different settings like heartbeat, ocean, frogs, crickets. Now when I put my baby girl down and she starts to get fussy I put on the heartbeat and it helps calm her.
    2. bottle warmer for the car. You just clip it to your air vent and plug it into your cigarette lighter and it warms the bottle up for you.
    3. Baby Music. I love playing classical baby tunes for my baby when she’s doing belly time.

Those are a few ideas. Good luck! And remember, the more diapers the better!

You didn’t mention what price range :)

My favorite things were my Moses basket, Maya wrap style sling, bouncy chair(don’t know what it’s called, sort of a metal frame that has fabric stretched across it) and mirror for the car that allows me to see the baby while I’m driving.

When we were expecting ours we got some gifts I would never have thoguht of but they turned out to be soooo helpful.

A mobile that also is a nightlight and vibrates the bed.
A bouncy seat with music and vibration
A theromometer kit with infant tylenol, infant motrin, baby oragel

Best gift for mom was far and away a pregnancy journal which I still go back and read and one friend wrote the baby a letter and I cherish that.

    Worst gift: Diaper Genie….totally useless!

I would suggest some of the practical things she may not receive. Like baby nail clippers, for instance.

It would be helpful if we got a definite price range, but I’ll put down some relatively inexpensive ones.

    Baby nail clippers

    Soaps, lotions

    Pacifiers

    Washcloths/towels

Dishwasher sorter (these are the coolest! They hold bottle nipples, binkis, and all that so they’re not floating around in the dishwasher.)

Blankies (you can never have enough, and yours just might be THE blankie that the baby falls in love with. How cool would that be?)

    Diaper Cream

An extra head support for in car seat. (Especially good for when they’re teeny, and can’t support their heads from flopping around in that big old car seat!)

Car mirrors (these are cool because you can position them so you can see baby’s face through the rearview)

    Window shade clings for car

Baby mittens (keeps ‘em from scrathing their face)

    Bibs (absolutely essential)

    Changing pad covers

    Diaper supply caddy

Spoons/Forks specialized for babies (when they’re a little older)

Mesh feeders (also for when they’re older, and just starting out eating solids. It keeps them from choking on fruits/veggies.)

Plastic bowls with suction on bottom

    Sippy cups

    Teething toys

Wherever Baby Chair (turns normal chairs into high chairs. Great for eating out.)

    Cloth diapers for spit-up

    Digital thermometer

    Crib sheets

Safety precautions (Outlet plugs, cabinet locks….)

    I know that’s a LOT, but I hope you got some ideas. :o )
