What is the right way to take a pregnancy test?

Apparently, I’ve been told that there are two ways of taking a pregnancy test. #1, simply peeing on the stick; #2, peeing in a cup and soaking the stick. I’ve also been told that soaking the stick is more accurate and if you just pee on it then you could get a false not-pregnant. Help?
just pee on the stick, trying to pee in a cup at home sounds complicated and gross.

if you take the test at home, then peeing on the stick is the most accurate. since you dont have sterilized cups at home that can prevent contamination. drs do have those, so they can test from a cup!
There is an instruction booklet in the box of the test with pics on how to do it accurately. I dont know if one way is more accurate than the other though.
With both of my pregnancies I went on the stick. So I am not sure if it matters both tests were accurate. But I have heard that you want o use your first morning urine I guess the readings are better.

first of all, there are lots of false negatives, because your body hasn’t made enough of the hormone that causes the test to read positive. There are not false positives though, because the way it reads positive is by detecting the hormone that your body ONLY makes when you are pregnant. That being said, either way you take the test is fine, as long as pee gets on the stick. If you are in doubt, then buy two tests and do one test one way and the other test the second way. Whatever makes you feel better.
Follow the direction on the box. Each one may be different and believe me peeing on it does work.
Read the directions that come with the test. With some of them (like Dollar Tree tests), you have to pee in a cup and use a dropper to put the urine on the test. Some will tell you to pee on the test, some to pee in a cup, and some will tell you that either way works, but you have to keep the test in the urine for a different amount of time depending on which way you choose. Whichever way the instructions recommend will be the most accurate way for that particular test. if you ahve enough pregnancy hormone in your urine it will show up either way…. read the directions on your particular pregnancy test and follow them…
