what kind of tests would the doctor run to figure out why i cant conceive?

"After one month of trying I became pregnant and had a beautiful healthy boy!"

"After over 7 years of trying to conceive and thousands of dollars spent on infertility treatments, I had actually succeeded to get pregnant the natural way without any drugs or medical intervention "

" I just wanted to say thank you for writing this program and for giving hope to women at my age. I am 46 and I am finally going to be a mother."

i’ve been trying to conceive for 2 years so on jan 27th i have a doctors appointment to see why its not happening. i should mention i do have a 2 year old son, since he was born we have not used anything to avoid pregnancy and have been trying hard to have our second.
so my question is what kind of tests will my doctor do to see what the problem is. what are some things i might need to do.

they can do an hsg that puts dye in your tubes to make sure there is no blockage.
they can also do a laparoscopic procedure to make sure they didn’t miss anything on the hsg & also to check for edometriosis, not for sure of spelling.
good luck, i had all of this done.
They will probably want to do bloodwork on your hormone levels. They will specifically tell you what day of your cycle they want them on. They might also do a pelvic exam and/or ultrasound. Possibly, if they think it’s a condition called PCOS, they may want you to have a glucose tolerance test. That requires fasting for 12 hours. Pretty much, be prepared to be a lil pin cushion for a while. I have that condition, PCOS, and as part of diagnosing me, had lots of blood draws. Best wishes hun!
Im the same honey, Only i was diagnosed with poly cystic ovaries last year, i have not used anything to prevent pregnancy on & off for the last 4 and half years with my husband and still haven’t conceived. How ever I do have a 4 year old boy that will be 5 this july and it didn’t seem to take that long to conceive him so I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t happening. I have been trying constantly however for the last year with the help of clomid and still haven’t got pregnant yet. Im having lap & dye done in 3 months which im scared of. If you look it up you will see what it is exactly as im a bit unsure still. They will most likely do an ultra sound with you to start with then eventually put you on fertility drugs like they did me. Hope you get your answers honey good luck xxxx
With me, they took blood. & tested to make sure i was ovulating & my hormone levels were ok. – Everything was normal.
Following this i then was referred to a fertility clinic, where i had an internal exam & sent for more blood tests. I had to have 3sets done..on different days of my period. – Everything was fine again..
I was then booked in for an ultrasound. – Still waiting for this.
I had this all done in the UK, so i don’t know if it’s done differently in different places. But they tend to just test you for the most common causes 1st, rule things out..then move onto other causes.
I was petrified when i was about to start my tests..but it’s really nothing to worry about.
Good luck!!!
