Just wondering because I am 17 weeks and 4 kg less than when I was 6 weeks pregnant. It is a good thing that I have lost the weight as I was fat to begin with (put on 40 kilos last pregnancy) and have been trying to keep weight under control.

You might want to check out http://www.postpregnancyhealth.com/. It offers great insight to pregnancy dieting and fitness, fitness after pregnancy, health and nutrition, nursing, bottle-feeding, anything you can imagine. It is just delivers really positive and encouraging ways to lose baby weight. The site has a lot of great ideas and ways of many things including weight gain during and after pregnancy, helping women get their confidence back after having a baby, and all sorts of exercises and things you can do. I went to this site constantly after having my baby- and I firmly believe in it… I lost an incredible amount of weight (mostly baby fat) from just taking her advice. She gives wonderful recommendations on products, fitness, and nutrition. Just really basic, healthy, “non-fad” ways to get back into shape and start feeling great again after your baby! The woman who developed the site is really motivational and tells women really great suggestions and instructions on how to tone and firm through proper, (but normal) eating and exercising. She also has information on great foods, skin and beauty care. I think you’ll really like it. I hope I helped answer your question!

It really depends on the person. I am due in 2 days (SO CLOSE!) and haven’t technically gained ANY weight yet. I’m HUGE, but because of how sick I was in the beginning of the pregnancy, I lost a lot of weight (about 17 lbs in total). Up until my last 4 or 5 appointments, I had lost weight every time. I was probably about 20-ish lbs overweight to begin with, so my OB wasn’t too concerned with it. Just as long as everything looks good, and your fundal height (where they measure your belly from your pubic bone to the top of your uterus) is about where it should be ( ie- 17 weeks = 17 cm (+/- 1 to 3 cm)) then no worries. But they usually wait until 20 weeks to start measuring that. It all depends on what your doc says :) I really worried about it, even though my doctor said everything was fine, and you know what? He was right. Everything has been fine. So congrats and good luck!

(Also, I realize that you use the metric system and I am unfarmiliar with it, so some of my measurements/weights may be weird, and for that I apologize…but I did find this neato metric calculator! http://library.thinkquest.org/3804/mass.html )

The best person to advise you would be your doctor or even nurse. I am 21 weeks pregnant. I am overweight and I initially lost weight as well, partially due to a gallbladder attack at 13 weeks though. Anyway, I lost about 12 lbs, and only gained back 2 during the last 2 weeks. The nurse actually said it was good though when I gained those 2 lbs. I know normally during the 2nd trimester, you are suppose to gain about a lb a week. I don’t believe in dieting during pregnancy. I just think you should eat when you are hungry and try to eat healthy. Watch your sweets and deserts but never go without eating when you are hungry.
