There is a reason why they call it the menstrual cycle. Yes as everything human goes, it can get irregular and out of wack, but the cycle goes you have your period (3 to 5 days depending on the person) then you ovulate about two weeks after that, the egg travels down the tube, then you have a window of about day and a half where the egg can be fertilized and implanted before the body says okay that one is no good. You can get pregnant at anytime with hormone fluctuation. Teen age girls tend to have high levels of irregularity because their bodies are still adjusting to the hormones and growing and emotions. Having more sex is never going to make it more difficult, the more little men you add to the egg hunt the better the chance one will find it, but a woman knowing her schedule and how often she is regular helps her both avoid pregnancy and get pregnant. Because a woman can only conceive when she ovulates. Sperm can live for up to 5 days in the females reproductive system, so there is about a 6 day window – 5 days leading up to and one day after ovulation – when a woman can conceive. The reason they tell you that it can happen anytime is because you don’t KNOW when you are ovulating. If you don’t know, then you can not possible be aware of your most fertile days. Some women ovulate right after their period, which would mean that if they had sex while on their period, in that 5 days before ovulation, then pregnancy certainly is possible.
